Set Hardware Without a Bench-Mounted Press
This long-handle hand strike die holder is a manual tool for installing compatible snap fasteners, eyelets, grommets and rivets. The selected upper die fits into the handle, while the matching lower die sits in the base. After the material and hardware components are properly aligned, a controlled hammer strike closes the fastener.
The tool is well suited to leatherworkers, bag makers, costume departments, alteration shops and small studios that handle repairs, prototypes or limited production. Because it does not need to be permanently mounted, it can also serve as a portable setting option.
This is a die holder, not a complete snap or grommet die set. Application-specific upper and lower dies must be ordered separately.
How to Use the Holder
- Identify the exact type, system and size of the hardware.
- Select the matching upper and lower setting dies.
- Fit the upper die into the long handle and the lower die into the base.
- Arrange the hardware components and material in the correct order.
- Place the base on a solid, level work surface.
- Keep the holder upright and apply a controlled hammer strike.
- Inspect the finished fastener before continuing with the remaining pieces.
Test the setup on a scrap piece of the same material before working on the finished item. Too much force can dent or deform the hardware, while too little force may leave the connection loose.
What Is Included?
- 1 long upper die holder
- 1 lower die base
Setting dies, snaps, grommets, rivets and hammer are sold separately.
Expand the Tool for New Applications
The hand strike holder can be used with different application dies that are technically compatible with its connection. As your work develops, you can add dies for different sizes of snaps, eyelets, grommets, rivets, jean buttons or fabric-covered buttons.
This gives you a flexible starting point without limiting the tool to one fastener size. Every new application still requires a die set made for the exact hardware system, component shape and dimensions.
Suitable Uses
- Leather bags, wallets and small leather goods
- Garment samples and costume work
- Canvas, fabric and accessory projects
- Repairs and alterations
- Prototypes and product development
- Craft studios and limited production runs
Hand Strike Holder or Bench Press?
A hand strike tool makes sense when portability, occasional use and a low-volume workflow are the main priorities. It is convenient for repairs, samples and projects where each piece is positioned individually.
A bench hand press is generally more efficient when you install hardware repeatedly or need more consistent pressure across a larger production run. Consider the hardware design, material thickness and expected daily quantity before choosing between the two methods.
Check Die and Thread Compatibility
Never choose a die only by the visible cap diameter. Confirm the hardware system, exact size, upper and lower component structure, die-holder connection and intended material before ordering.
If you later plan to use the same setting die in a press manufactured outside Türkiye, verify the machine’s upper thread. M6 is commonly requested for international machinery, but it is not interchangeable with similarly sized imperial threads. For reference, M6 has an approximate outside diameter of 6 mm (0.236 in); this does not make it compatible with a 1/4"-20 UNC connection.
If you are uncertain, send us the hardware product code and clear photos of the upper and lower connections on your holder or press. We can help you identify the appropriate die option before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does this tool include snap or grommet dies?
No. The package contains the long upper holder and lower base. Setting dies must be ordered separately for the exact hardware type and size.
Can I use it without a bench press?
Yes. It is designed for manual operation with a suitable hammer on a solid and stable work surface.
Can one die install snaps, grommets and rivets?
No. Each hardware type, system and size normally requires its own matching upper and lower die set.
Is it intended for production work?
It is best suited to repairs, samples, prototypes and small production runs. A bench press is usually more efficient for frequent or higher-volume installation.
Is the hammer included?
No. The hammer, setting dies and hardware components are not included.
Can I add other applications later?
Yes. You can add technically compatible dies for different snaps, grommets, rivets, jean buttons or fabric-covered buttons as your projects change.
How do I choose the right setting die?
Match the die to the hardware product code, system, exact size, component shape and holder connection. Do not rely on cap diameter alone.
Should I select M6 for a press made outside Türkiye?
M6 is commonly used with international machinery, but it should not be selected without checking the actual press thread. Metric M6 and 1/4"-20 UNC threads are not mechanically interchangeable.
