This 5.5 mm / 0.22 in single-passage drawstring cord lock gives designers and small manufacturers a compact way to add user-adjustable tension to apparel, bags and textile accessories. The 50-piece format supports sampling, replacement work and controlled short-run production.
Where does this component fit?
The single shared passage is primarily intended for one drawstring. It can be evaluated for hoodie cords, jogger waistbands, drawstring pouches, footwear and bag applications where the user needs to release and secure the cord repeatedly.
The 5.5 mm / 0.22 in passage occupies a useful position between narrower 4 mm locks and wider 7 mm alternatives. It should still be treated as a nominal component measurement rather than a guaranteed matching cord diameter.
Production approval checklist
- Measure the cord without flattening its braid.
- Check its diameter under light compression.
- Confirm smooth movement while the button is pressed.
- Make sure the button returns fully after release.
- Test holding performance in the finished product’s load direction.
Tool-free cord installation
Press the moving section to align the passage, feed the cord through and release the button at the required position. A press or setting die is not normally needed. Install the lock before adding any terminal fitting that is too large to pass through the channel.
Selection warning
A smooth or undersized cord may slip even when it passes easily through the lock. A stiff, oversized or heavily filled cord may obstruct the return of the spring-loaded button. Sample approval with the actual production cord is therefore essential.
Compare other structures in the cord ends and stoppers collection. For a wider single passage, review the 7 mm / approximately 0.28 in plastic cord stopper. A dual-passage alternative is available in the 4 mm two-hole 50-piece pack.
Pack contents
- 50 single-passage plastic cord locks
Not supplied: Drawstring, elastic, terminal cord end or additional textile hardware.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 50-piece pack suitable for sample development?
Yes. It provides a manageable quantity for prototypes, repairs and short production runs.
Can two cord ends share the passage?
Only when their combined compressed profile fits and passes the holding test. The standard arrangement uses one cord.
Is a press required?
No. The cord is threaded by hand while the button is pressed.
Will every 5.5 mm cord work with this lock?
No. Braid, filling, stiffness, surface texture and compressed diameter must also be evaluated.
Should the component be tested before bulk production?
Yes. Test threading, button return, grip, appearance and colour on the final cord assembly.
